The Ant and the Grasshopper

Another Educational Update sent by Ratish. I had to share with the others.
Ratish keeps sending me such interesting updates. He has also created a blog ratishsingh.
But updating his blog is tougher than creating it.

The Story
This is where we are today Ant & Grasshopper .
The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its houseand laying up supplies for the winter.
The Grasshopper thinks the Ant is a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away.
Come winter, the Ant is warm and well fed.
The Grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.

Modern Version

The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its houseand laying up supplies for the winter.
The Grasshopper thinks the Ant's a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering Grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the Ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.
NDTV, BBC, CNN show up to provide pictures of the shivering Grasshopper next to a video of the Ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
The World is stunned by the sharp contrast.
How can this be that this poor Grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Arundhati Roy stages a demonstration in front of the Ant's house.
Medha Patkargoes on a fast along with other Grasshoppers demanding that Grasshoppers be relocated to warmer climates during winter.
Amnesty International and Koffi Annan criticizes the Indian Government for not upholding the fundamental rights of the Grasshopper.
The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the Grasshopper (many promising Heaven and Everlasting Peace for prompt support as against the wrath of God for non-compliance).
Opposition MPs stage a walkout. Left parties call for "Bharat Bandh"in West Bengal and Kerala demanding a Judicial Enquiry.
CPM in Kerala immediately passes a law preventing Ants from working hard in the heat so as to bring about equality of poverty among Ants and Grasshoppers.
Lalu Prasadal locates one free coach to Grasshoppers on all Indian Railway Trains, aptly named as the 'Grasshopper Rath'.
Finally, the Judicial Committee drafts the 'Prevention of TerrorismAgainst Grasshoppers act'[POTAGA], with effect from the beginning of the winter.
Arjun Singh makes ' Special Reservation ' for Grasshoppers in Educational Institutions & in Government Services.
The Ant is fined for failing to comply with POTAGA and having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, it's home is confiscated by the Government and handed over to the Grasshopper in a ceremony covered by NDTV.
Arundhati Roy calls it 'A Triumph of Justice'. Lalu calls it 'Socialistic Justice'.
CPM calls it the ' Revolutionary Resurgence of the Downtrodden' Koffi Annan invites the Grasshopper to address the UN General Assembly.
Many years later...
The Ant has since migrated to the US and set up a multi-billion dollarcompany inSilicon Valley .
100s of Grasshoppers still die of starvation despite reservationsomewhere in India ...
As a result of loosing lot of hard working Ants and feeding theGrasshoppers, India is still a developing country.

The Aamir Blog - Settlers Of Panchgani.

Sorry folks, the below is not mine. I do not know if copying is allowed in blogging. But this is in honour of the beauty of the language used by Aamir Khan. Happy reading. And do watch his new movie so that he stops smoking.

Settlers Of Panchgani. May,13,2008

I’m sitting under a tree, on the edge of a valley, approximately 5000 feet above sea level. The river Krishna flows far below us snaking its way among the Sahyadri mountains. A cool breeze is blowing, jannat ki hawa (breeze from the heavens), as my mother calls it. Ammi, Ira and Junaid are by my side and we are in the middle of one of our favourite board games ‘Settlers Of Catan’. Shahrukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits every now and then. What more can I ask for? Now, before you jump to any conclusions let me add that Shahrukh is the name of our dog. And before you jump to any further conclusions let me add that I had nothing to do with naming him. In fact Shahrukh is the dog of the caretakers of our house. When I bought this house it came with the caretakers and their dog! Apparently Shahrukh (the actor) was shooting for a commercial in this house a few years ago, and that very day the caretakers bought a pup…, and named him Shahrukh. What are the chances of me buying a house which comes with a dog called Shahrukh!!! Some of my friends claim that I bought the house just because of the dog. I would have to be a serious fan of Shahrukh’s to want to do that. Your guess…All I can say is I’m waiting for him to come over, . Getting back to Settlers of Catan, it’s a wonderful game. You must try it if you are fond of board games. All in all I am having a great time with my mom and kids here in my favorite place on earth, Panchgani. I think Kiran and I must have done something good in our life to be blessed with this great place to get away to. My hamstring muscle seems to be healing, slowly but surely. Catching up on films, saw Casino Royale last night which I liked. Incidentally Panchgani is a favorite with para-gliders. Now that’s something I am going to learn as soon as I finish with the Ghajini shoot. Well Shahrukh is once again begging for my attention, so let me get back to him. He is smelling too much, I think he needs a bath. “Heel boy, heel.”

The Blogstress

This is an extract from an article in the HT, Delhi.

Two popular bloggers Russel Shaw and Marc die of Heart Attact. Before his death he posted this item

"Have Come down with something. Resting now, posts to resume later today or tomorow."

Well I have come down with interview fever. Posts to resume from Wednesday.

Till then all you faithfuls please ensure that the remaining misguided persons (from those contacted by email or phone or both) who have yet to visit the blogs do so.

Happy Viewing

FRIDAY THE 13th

The news of the day
a google search for "PRATUL SINGH" gives results. YAHOO or GOGOO.
Welcome to the Big Wide World .
This post should be written in Black. The color of Friday the 13th .
It's been good. For once I have submitted my Income tax in time , courtesy Mr. R.S.Nerwal and Shri Pramod Pandey.
Here is some information on the 13th.

Friday the 13th is considered a day of bad luck in English-, French- and Portuguese-speaking countries around the world, as well as in Austria, Germany, Estonia, Finland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Republic of Ireland, Poland, Bulgaria, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, and the Philippines.
Similar superstitions exist in some other traditions. In Greece, Romania and Spanish-speaking countries, for example, it is Tuesday the 13th that is considered unlucky. In Italy, it is Friday the 17th.
The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia,[1], a word derived from the concatenation of the Greek words Paraskeví (Παρασκευή) (meaning Friday), and dekatreís (δεκατρείς) (meaning thirteen), attached to phobía (φοβία) (meaning fear). The term is a specialized form of triskaidekaphobia, a simple phobia (fear) of the number thirteen appearing in any case.

Now to personal affairs: Things are very hectic on numerous fronts. giving them in order of nothing in particular:
1. Interview for Scale IV on 17th.
2. Ceisb Exam on the 22nd.
3. Submission of Project for MBA - SMU .
4. House hunting.
....

The best part the they will all culminate by 27th July 2008.
And hope a status of happiness starts thereafter.

My forced fans have commented on the status of the keyboard. He is right. As a first step I have ensured that the space bar has been rectified. The remaining problems will be reduced.

AGRA VISIT 2007

Hi,

This is the AGRA visit during 2007 .
The TAJ is beautiful .
I do hope some oen has more lights in the premises .

Fatehpur sikri was also very wonderful.
Like all my previous tours this was also hurried and we could not see the complete fort.
i suppose Akbar had to run away because of lack of water.

presently posted in Delhi, we had been to see the delhi red fort.
the one at Agra is much bigger and more beautiful. It also has more history.

I have not used the capital letters because I was having the bread pakoras that Ramu alias
"Narendra Kumar Goswami" has provided. That has finished and now I am having tea.
Hope not to get myself burnt. hence signing off.
